Description

Sitka sits on the outer coast of Baranof Island facing the open Pacific, and that position tells you everything about its character. The shirt states it plainly: Sitka in distressed retro athletic lettering arched across the chest, with Alaska in a weathered block stamp below, a vintage graphic that matches the age and weight of a town with more history per square mile than most states can claim.

For longtime residents, seasonal transplants, and anyone who came through on the ferry and never quite mentally left. Men/unisex cut runs slightly slim, long sleeve and kids versions are regular fit. Available in black, dark green, heather gray, and navy blue. A souvenir from one of Alaska's most singular towns, and a gift that tells a real story.

Automatic donations to related charities

Fair ask. We’ve been creating anti-fascist and progressive art for over 25 years. Chicago made us, but now we’re full-time nomads making art and products that espouse our beliefs in human rights and social justice. We design things for the communities we come from and the ones we fight alongside, with a portion of sales donated to causes we support. We’re stubborn, loud, and allergic to neutrality. No fascists. No excuses.

Most of our items are available in a wide range of sizes. Additionally, most items are available in various styles. If you see a T-shirt design you like and want it on a hoodie, check the hoodies section or use the search bar. You can also customize the style and color of most designs in the custom section of our website.

Feel free to contact us if you can't find what you're looking for, and we'll do our best to make it happen.

We donate $1 of each item sold to non-profits and organizations supporting progressive, humanitarian, and justice-oriented causes around the world. All donations are automatically calculated and transferred to our charity partner every month to ensure compliance and timely processing.

We want you to love your Strange Gang goodies! If you're not completely satisfied with your purchase, you request a return for a refund or exchange within 7 days of receipt. Please note that all returns must be unworn and unwashed. Simply contact us at info@strangegang.com and we'll guide you through the process. Read more here. Important: Custom items cannot be returned for any reason, but damaged items can be replaced.

Sitka Time Is Different

Sitka was the capital of Russian America before it was anything else to the United States, and that history is not subtle. The Russian Bishop's House still stands downtown. St. Michael's Cathedral anchors the main street with its onion dome in a way that stops people mid-stride. The Sitka National Historical Park, Alaska's oldest federally designated park, holds totem poles along a rainforest trail at the site where Tlingit warriors made their stand against Russian forces in 1804. You can walk that ground. People do, regularly, and it lands differently than most historical sites because the forest itself feels like it remembers.

The Sitka WhaleFest runs every November and draws marine biologists, whale watching boats, and people who just want to stand on the waterfront and watch humpbacks feed in Sitka Sound. The Sitka Summer Music Festival has been pulling world-class chamber musicians to this remote Southeast Alaska town every June since 1972. Both of those facts are genuinely strange and completely true.

Silver Bay and the surrounding waters produce king salmon, halibut, and Dungeness crab. People kayak out to the islands in Sitka Sound on gray mornings when the water is flat and the eagles are working the shoreline. Starrigavan Recreation Area north of town offers camping at the edge of the estuary with bear sightings common enough to be routine. The Sitka Sound Science Center runs research and education programs that connect the community to the ecosystem keeping it alive.

Strange Allies built this shirt for the commercial trollers, the artists who relocated here because the light was right, the Alaska Native community whose relationship with this land predates every name the map has ever used for it, and the visitors who came expecting scenery and left understanding something much larger.

Distressed vintage print. Retro athletic arch. Alaska stamped below Sitka like a fact that needs no argument.

Men/unisex, long sleeve, kids. Strange Allies. The outer coast on your chest.
