Milwaukee does not need to audition for anybody.

That is one of the best things about it. The city is not standing around begging to be called cool by people who just discovered a coffee shop and a waterfront view. Milwaukee already knows what it is. It is lake wind, old brick, neighborhood loyalty, strong opinions, and the exact kind of charm that gets meaner and funnier the better you know it.
