Los Angeles has more versions of itself than any city has a right to. Los Angeles in Japanese runs across the front in chunky retro letterforms that arch slightly, filling the chest with a kind of confidence that does not need to announce itself. Below it, "Los Angeles" in tight block text. No palm tree silhouette, no freeway sign, no script font doing the California thing. Just the name of the city in a language that adds something to it without taking anything away.

The Y2K cut is doing the right thing here. At true size it is fitted and cropped with that early 2000s precision that photographs like it was planned. Size up and it shifts into something baggier and more relaxed, the kind of tee you throw on for a coffee run in Los Feliz that somehow ends up being the thing you wear all day.
