There is a version of Florida on the postcards and there is the version that shows up to the march, brings extra water, and does not leave until the last person has somewhere to be.
This shirt is for the second one.
The Florida Rebel Alliance is an anti-fascist protest design, and the tee is the most direct way to carry it. A lightly distressed pink flamingo, wings completely open, rising inside a circular teal rebel badge. It goes on your chest and reads from across the crowd, across the parking lot, across the campus quad at Florida State or the University of Miami before anyone has said a single word.
That is the job. The shirt does it every time you put it on.
Wear it to an Orlando organizing meeting. Wear it on Biscayne Boulevard in Miami. Wear it to a Marlins game or a Tampa Bay Rays afternoon and let the other people in the stands figure out where you stand. Wear it to the rally in Jacksonville or the demonstration outside federal offices in Fort Lauderdale.
Wear the long sleeve when the Gainesville evenings finally cool down enough to need it. Put the kids tee on the small person in your life who is already asking the right questions about why things are the way they are and what you are doing about it.
The slightly slim fit on the tee sits right. The long sleeve and kids versions run regular. All three are made for the people who are actually moving through Florida right now, through the heat and the headlines and the weeks that ask a lot of everyone.
This is not a shirt you buy and forget about. It is the one that comes out of the drawer on the days when you need to remember what you are doing this for. The one that starts conversations you are prepared to have.
It makes a real gift for the activist who already has opinions about everything and needs something new to wear while having them out loud. The person who texts the whole group at 7am with the march details and somehow also brings snacks.
Or take it home as a souvenir from the Florida that exists below the surface of the tourism version, loud and organized and absolutely not done.
Strange Gang. For the fighters, the organizers, and every weirdo who refuses to look away.
