Description

Detroit built the soundtrack to the twentieth century and nobody gave it a proper receipt. This shirt puts it in writing: Art & Drugs & Music & Detroit, in large block letters across the chest, clean and direct. It is for the people who grew up going to Eastern Market on Saturday mornings and Movement on Memorial Day weekend, for the Wayne State students who discovered the Marble Bar before they discovered their major, for anyone who has ever called this city home and meant it. Available in black, kelly green, navy blue, and purple, as a slightly slim fit short sleeve or a regular fit long sleeve.

Take one home as a souvenir or hand it over as a gift to someone who bleeds for this city. Either way it lands right.

Automatic donations to related charities

Fair ask. We’ve been creating anti-fascist and progressive art for over 25 years. Chicago made us, but now we’re full-time nomads making art and products that espouse our beliefs in human rights and social justice. We design things for the communities we come from and the ones we fight alongside, with a portion of sales donated to causes we support. We’re stubborn, loud, and allergic to neutrality. No fascists. No excuses.

Most of our items are available in a wide range of sizes. Additionally, most items are available in various styles. If you see a T-shirt design you like and want it on a hoodie, check the hoodies section or use the search bar. You can also customize the style and color of most designs in the custom section of our website.

Feel free to contact us if you can't find what you're looking for, and we'll do our best to make it happen.

We donate $1 of each item sold to non-profits and organizations supporting progressive, humanitarian, and justice-oriented causes around the world. All donations are automatically calculated and transferred to our charity partner every month to ensure compliance and timely processing.

We want you to love your Strange Gang goodies! If you're not completely satisfied with your purchase, you request a return for a refund or exchange within 7 days of receipt. Please note that all returns must be unworn and unwashed. Simply contact us at info@strangegang.com and we'll guide you through the process. Read more here. Important: Custom items cannot be returned for any reason, but damaged items can be replaced.

Still Standing. Still Loud.

Techno was born in Detroit. Not discovered there, not popularized there. Born. Juan Atkins, Derrick May, and Kevin Saunderson built something in basements and warehouses that the entire world is still dancing to forty years later, in clubs from Berlin to Tokyo, and Detroit mostly just kept it moving without waiting for the applause.

Strange Allies made this shirt for that energy. The Art & Drugs & Music & Detroit graphic is block letters, no decoration, no skyline shorthand. Just the sentence, front and center. You know what it means or you learn fast.

The College for Creative Studies has been feeding the city's visual culture for decades. The Detroit Institute of Arts holds a Rivera mural on its walls that workers and students and stoners have been standing in front of since 1933. Midtown carries all of that history into the present and Corktown keeps rewriting itself without erasing what came before. Hamtramck has its own logic entirely and that is exactly the point.

Big Sean came up here. Danny Brown still flies the flag harder than almost anyone working. Eminem mapped the city in a way that made people outside Michigan finally pay attention to what had been happening all along. The Detroit Jazz Festival takes over the riverfront every Labor Day and the crowd that shows up is not one type of person. It never has been.

Belle Isle in the summer. The Dequindre Cut on a bike when the light is hitting right. A Slow Roll cruise through neighborhoods that are still writing their next chapter. This city has more texture per block than most places have in a whole zip code.

The shirt comes in a slightly slim fit short sleeve or a regular fit long sleeve and it travels well. Wear it to Movement weekend. Wear it back in whatever city you flew in from. Let it be the thing that starts the conversation or ends it, depending on who is asking.

Strange Allies. Made for cities that invented the thing you love.
