People who are not from Dallas think they know what Dallas is. They picture the skyline, the Cowboys, the highway systems that go on longer than some states. And sure, all of that is real. But the people who actually live here navigate an entirely different city, one that exists at street level, neighborhood by neighborhood, block by block, where the distance between Lakewood and Pleasant Grove is not just miles but entire worlds that each have their own pulse.
