Chicago Unfiltered

Chicago does not need your permission to be one of the greatest cities on earth. It already knows. It has been knowing since house music crawled out of the South Side in the eighties and rewired every dance floor from here to Berlin.

Strange Allies made this for the people who understand that Chicago is not one thing. It is Pilsen murals and Wicker Park basement shows. It is the empty lot next to the corner store that someone turned into a community garden and a canvas at the same time. It is Lollapalooza weekend from the outside, watching the skyline from a rooftop in Logan Square with something burning between your fingers.

Chance the Rapper grew up here. So did Earth, Wind and Fire. So did the entire architecture of footwork and juke. Columbia College kids are out here making films about neighborhoods the rest of the country ignores. DePaul students are throwing warehouse parties in Bridgeport. The creative output of this city is relentless and it does not stop for weather.

The design leans into all of it. Art & Drugs & Music & Chicago printed in bold block type, finished with four small stars pulled straight from the city flag. It is blunt and it is proud and it does not hedge. That is a very Chicago thing to do.

Wear it to Pitchfork Music Festival. Wear it on the Red Line heading north at midnight. Wear it to a gallery opening in the West Loop where the wine is free and the conversation is actually good. Strange Allies is not interested in making something forgettable, and neither are you.
